China reaches the summit!

Good news! About an hour ago (9:15 p.m. ET Wednesday), CNN and China TV reported the China Olympic climbing team reached the summit.

IMG has said that once China reached the summit, they hope that things can get back to “normal” on the mountain. I’ll keep you posted if I hear anything from Bob.

What is good about this news? I wouldn't wish any harm to the climbers, but really all this proves is that China controls the Tibetan approach to Everest. Under the circumstances, not exactly a celebration of the Olympic spirit.

Sorry, perhaps I could have been more specific. In this context, the "good news" was referring to the fact that now the China team has reached the summit, the increased security and other communication related issues will hopefully subside - allowing us to get more information and updates from the IMG team. -Rob

What an anonymous politically-correct message. People even have to defend their "good news". For those with an ax to grind, you should only look at the fact that the vast majority of the Chinese mountaineer team are Tibetans and so were most of the torch barears to get a hint of who is doing you brain washing.
